Haiti earthquake: Rediscovered frog species offer signs of hope - gallery
As the people of Haiti mark the painful anniversary of the 2009 earthquake this week, scientists have reported the surprising rediscovery of six species of globally unique frogs in the remote southern mountains. The frogs had been lost to science for nearly two decades. The search was inspired by Conservation International’s global search for ‘lost’ amphibians. Amphibians are considered a ‘barometer species’ for ecological health and could become a source of hope for the country’s environmental future.
