It’s growing season!

After a long winter and some serious tree removal, I’m excited to get a real plot started this year!

Whether you’re container gardening or planting a huge crop, it just feels good to get out there, get dirty, and grow some vegetables for yourself (and half of the neighborhood if your plants do well!).

Most places are warm enough by now to start from seed, but here in the Northeast I’m hedging my bets and starting a few flats of seeds, to transplant as seedlings.

If you’re just getting started with gardening, there are lots of easy veggies to grow - tomatoes probably being the easiest and most rewarding if you have little time or space.  Things to think about before choosing what to grow include how much space you have, how much light, turning over and supplementing the topsoil, how much time and money you want to spend, and what you want to get from your garden.  Gardening has so many benefits for your mind and body, as well as living sustainably and saving a bit of money at the grocery store.
