I understand and support the idea of the government trying to save money - but keeping the public informed and interested in conservation work is incredibly important!
The desert tortoise website (deserttortoise.gov) is beautifully designed and full of information - take a minute to check it out, and learn about one of America’s unique reptiles. The desert tortoise is just one of dozens of reptiles that are unique to the southwestern US. I may be biased after working as a field biologist out there, but everyone should take an interest in preserving the diversity of our deserts.
